It is in the blood of the Turk that he is inspired by a leader and invites him. From a limit, however, this love reaches a status that could be described as idolatry. It is less paid attention to what the person calls someone to but the person is obeyed and applauded loudly. I would like to go into that more and try to bring you my thoughts closer.
Executives in History
I will list a few executives who are present in all the minds of the classical Turk …
Prophet Mohammed (sav)
Everyone knows that the Prophet Muhammad proclaimed and spread Islam. His quotes are taken as an opportunity to explain something about Islam. It is also known that he has been a good person and therefore it’s shown everywhere where his name occurs profoundest respect.
Fatih Sultan Mehmet
This Sultan has went in history as the conqueror of Istanbul and has conquered the hearts of Muslims with his achievement. Istanbul (then Constantinople) was the capital of the Byzantine Empire. At that time the Byzantine Empire was a world power and Fatih Sultan Mehmet forced them to their knees.
Mustafa Kemal is a very controversial person in Turkey. He abolished the Islamic regime (Sharia) in Turkey and instead fueled the modernization of Turkey and introduced democracy. He has also made a deal with his agreements to keep Turkey in peace for a while.
Tayyip Erdoğan was the hope of Muslims in Turkey that the Sharia be reintroduced. However, this was not his intention, but he and his partners in Turkey provided a financial boost and brought Turkey back into the limelight. He is loved for that.
The democracy in Turkey was revived by Ekrem Imamoğlu and with its repeated election on 23 July 2019, he proved that democracy still works in Turkey. That’s why his re-election was celebrated very big.
These people are celebrated for their achievements, loved and respected. The problem, however, is that today’s population no longer has the goals in sight but these people. This means that a Muslim has the prophet Muhammad before his eyes but has completely lost sight of his goals.
That’s exactly how it is, for example, in Turkey with Ekrem Imamoğlu. You will see that this person is highly regarded. While I can not look to the future, I can already imagine that he will achieve very big goals. I shared this idea some time ago on Facebook.
The problem is that almost all who love him only love him, they love Ekrem Imamoğlu, his embodiment. However, no one sees what he is fighting for and what he is trying to keep on his path.
At the end of the day, every idol that people follow is for a cause to call on and people have to make that clear and not blindly follow those people.
Otherwise, you start to idolize a person and do not even notice it. However, if one is convinced of his ideology, one can continue his cause. Exactly the problem currently has Tayyip Erdoğan. The people who followed him love only him and not his ideology.
